SMB financing marketplace

LUC is a financing marketplace connecting SMBs with financial institutions ready to lend. The design challenge lived in the audience. SMB owners are experts in their business, not in lending vocabulary and processes. The platform had to absorb that complexity instead of passing it on.

Keep the metaphor, fix the product

The MVP ran on e-commerce logic: home, listing, product detail and a checkout that didn’t complete a transaction but kicked off the process. We kept that structure because it borrows something owners already understand, shopping. Then we iterated it. Users were really hunting for capital at the best possible rate, so we designed a discovery page and a multi-select application flow to apply to several institutions at once and compare offers for the best deal.

The part after applying

The soliciting process is where the product earns its keep. A lot of information moves between the business and each institution, so we built a dashboard for general context and a detail page for each application, with status always visible. We also designed the institution side, a tool to track prospects, leads and clients. The redesign went end to end, covering the whole journey.
